How to Safely Ship Your Device for Data Recovery
Proper packaging ensures your media arrives safely for evaluation and recovery. Follow these steps carefully to prevent further damage during transit.
Step-by-Step Packaging Instructions
-
Place the Drive in an ESD (Anti-Static) Bag
Always use an ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) bag to protect your device from static damage. If an anti-static bag isn’t available, wrap the drive securely in aluminum foil before cushioning.
-
Add Protective Cushioning
Wrap the drive with at least 2 inches of bubble wrap or non-movable foam padding on all sides. This prevents movement and absorbs shock during shipping.
-
Use a Strong Cardboard Box
Place the wrapped device inside a sturdy corrugated cardboard box—avoid chipboard or thin cartons, as they cannot withstand shipping impacts. Ensure the box is structurally sound and free from defects.
Shipping Multiple Items
- Each device must be individually packaged using the steps above.
- Do not allow drives to touch each other inside the box.
-
Use separate anti-static bags for each device.
Important Packing Warnings
❌ Do NOT use packing materials that can shift, settle, or compress (e.g., peanuts, shredded paper).
❌ Do NOT ship drives in padded or regular envelopes.
✅ Always make sure the contents are secure and immovable inside the box.
Include Your Case Number
Include the case number you received in your setup confirmation email or letter. This helps our team quickly identify your media upon arrival.
